These books have also helped me to "read" people's love languages by simply listening to what they are saying. When people talk about their loved ones or complain about certain people they tend to emphasize what is clearly important to them. Most people want to feel loved, appreciated, valued and important to their loved ones.
In my everyday interactions I work at finding something to genuinely appreciate about the people I interact with. Whether I am at the grocery store, hair salon, leasing office, etc I find a way to compliment. "I really appreciate your patience", "Thank you for all your hard work", "Thank you for taking your time in helping me with this", etc. These words can do wonders in a person's life. Hugs are wonderful! I hug my hairdresser every chance I get. Being a good listener makes another person feel that you care. These books simply help you to recognize how to affect people in a more positive manner. Thank you Dr. Chapman!

Absolutely a must read for anyone who wants to better their marriage, or any relationship.
An excellent book for those intending to get married, newly married, or have been married and concerned about their marriage. Very helpful in getting a better understanding of yourself and your partner.
This is a great read for couples in serious long term relationships. The author, Dr. Chapman, has a story that every couple can relate to in each chapter. It's simple and concise for both sexes.
Very well written. I recommend this to everyone as it helps you see your friends and family in a different way once you understand th different ways we give and receive love.
I use these books in my counseling practice with singles, couples, and parents. I refer to them often, and even assign these books as homework, for practical ways to enhance the ability to put ones' self in his/her loved one's shoes. Parents are taught, and reminded to keep their children's emotional bucket full. Children act out when they feel ignored or unloved. These books teach us we all have our 'love language' of choice, but this may not be the same language of our loved one. Being able to give and receive love in our own 'language' is paramount. I highly recommend this book series.
